Is the old MORTUARY in Gentry, Arkansas ACTUALLY HAUNTED?!?! ~ In 1990, local artists began to occupy the building that was once Gentry’s mortuary and funeral chapel. They transformed the space into a project studio devoted to music, film, and many other art forms. Over the years, visitors, including paranormal investigation groups, have reported strange phenomena there. They’ve seen unexplained lights and noises. They’ve had the feeling that someone, or something, was breathing down their necks.
Now, during the Halloween season, the artists of Mortuary Studios present “Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House.” - The mad ghosts of the morticians, the gravediggers, and the evil undertakers of Carpenter’s Mortuary have once again opened up for business. Come explore their haunted halls . . . if you dare.

GENERAL WARNINGS / RULES
NO CAMERAS. Camera flashes and video lights ruin the atmosphere and are a dangerous distraction to our staff and to other visitors. However, please take lots of shots outside the Haunted House - the queue line room is a great place for selfies! All we ask is that you share them on Facebook (Facebook.com/MortuaryStudios) or Instagram (#CarpentersMortuary).
DO NOT ENTER IF YOU ARE INTOXICATED. Seriously, this creates a dangerous situation. If our outside staff sees evidence of this, you'll be asked to leave, and the police will be notified. Members of the Police Department are on site during all operating hours.
DO NOT TOUCH OUR ACTORS OR PROPS. Our actors won't touch you; this is our policy. PLEASE do not touch our actors or props. Very minor physical contact will occasionally occur in any public space. But we sometimes have adult men go through raising their fists and threatening to punch every actor they see. This type of person should consider this: If haunted houses frighten you that badly, you shouldn't go to one. What you're doing is not only an embarrassment to you and a danger to staff and nearby patrons, it's also illegal. Members of the Gentry Police Department are on site during all operating hours.
DO NOT ENTER IF YOU: suffer from asthma, have a heart condition, are prone to seizures, are pregnant, suffer any form of mental impairment including claustrophobia, have respiratory or any other types of medical problems.
DO NOT ENTER IF YOU: are wearing any form of cast or medical brace, are using crutches, or have any type of physical limitation. Do not enter if you are taking medications or using drugs of any type. You will not be admitted if any of these conditions are noticed by our staff.
DO NOT SMOKE, EAT, or DRINK inside the haunted house.
DO NOT RUN inside the haunted house.
NO CHILDREN UNDER 13 ALLOWED WITHOUT PARENT OR GUARDIAN. There are several great kid-friendly Halloween related attractions throughout the area. Carpenter's Mortuary Spook House is NOT ONE OF THEM. It is too scary for most children under the age of thirteen, and we recommend that preteen children not attend. Any parent who insists that his or her younger child enter the spook house must accompany that child. No refunds will be given to ticket holders who become too frightened. Additionally, CHILDREN MAY NOT BE CARRIED! This is a safety concern.
GENERAL WAIVER OF LIABILITY
I. Assumption of Risk. You and every person who enters “Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House” acknowledges that “Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House” is a unique and interactive environment, designed to maximize the fright and anxiety experienced by patrons, and that such environments have certain, inherent, known and unknown, obvious or non-obvious risks, including, but not limited to: falling; sliding; tripping; slipping; and being struck or hit by moving objects, props or people. These risks may cause serious physical injury or even death. You further acknowledge and assume the risks from the presence of, and exposure to, the following risks: 1) fog, dust or smoke; 2) uneven floors; 3) moving, slippery floors; 4) obstacles and obstructions on, in or along paths and walkways; 5) dark, winding hallways; 6) dimly lit areas; 7) sudden motions or movements; 8) darkness; 9) loud noises that may cause loss of hearing; 10) bright lights; 11) strobe lights; 12) equipment failure; 13) objects or other people falling on, jumping, or striking you; 14) any acts by you or others because of fear, anxiety, dizziness, asthma, impaired vision, and any other physical or emotional condition; 15) the failure of any safety device or procedure; 16) frightening statements and conduct; 17) unpredictable and surprising situations; 18) becoming wet; 19) friction burns and other abrasions, scratches, burns and other contusions; 20) ANY ACT OF NEGLIGENCE, whatsoever, by any person working at “Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House”, in addition to any and all other activities techniques or procedures designed to frighten patrons. YOU MUST PAY ATTENTION AT ALL TIMES. IF YOU DO NOT ASSUME AND ACCEPT ALL RISKS FOR POTENTIAL INJURY, YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO ENTER “CARPENTER’S MORTUARY SPOOK HOUSE”.
II. Release and Waiver of Liability. By entering “Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House”, you agree that you have read this Agreement and all other warnings, and you agree to accept all risks, both specifically identified above and unknown, and to RELEASE and WAIVE Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House, LLC, individually and as a group, and any of their business and/or building owners, employees, agents, affiliates, volunteers, and any representatives from any and all claims, rights and damages arising from ANY AND ALL NEGLIGENCE WHATSOEVER and any RECKLESS ACT on the part of the aforementioned parties, or their representatives. You further agree to release, waive and discharge the aforementioned Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House, LLC, the business and/or building owners, and all their employees, volunteers, and representatives from any and all other claims, whatsoever, that may be waived pursuant to Arkansas law. IF YOU DO NOT RELEASE AND WAIVE ALL LIABILITY OF THE PARTIES IDENTIFIED IN THIS SECTION, YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO ENTER “CARPENTER’S MORTUARY SPOOK HOUSE”.
III. Indemnity. You also agree to indemnify and hold harmless all parties and persons referred to in Section II., above, from any expenses, including attorney’s fees, relating or resulting in any way from your entry into and involvement within “Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House”. In the event that you buy a ticket, provide another person with money to buy a ticket, or deliver a ticket for use in “Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House” to another person, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the parties referred to in Section II., above, from any claims by those persons; and you agree to be responsible to make certain that those persons to whom you buy, give or deliver tickets are aware of all warnings and that they agree to all terms of this Agreement. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THIS INDEMNITY PROVISION, YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO ENTER “CARPENTER’S MORTUARY SPOOK HOUSE.”
IV. Arbitration. If, for any reason, any user of any ticket to “Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House” does not waive or release any claim as provided in Section II., above, the user must mediate such claim with the parties named in Section II., above, and, if the dispute or claim is not resolved by mediation, the ticket user waives the right to any trial or proceeding in any court and must submit their dispute to binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
V. Physical and Medical Condition. By entering “Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House”, you affirm and represent the following: 1) that you are not under the influence of drugs or alcohol; 2) that you do not suffer from heart conditions, seizure conditions, asthma and/or other respiratory condition or any other type of mental or physical medical problems; 3) that you are not presently in a cast; and 4) that there are no other reasons why you should not enter “Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House”.
VI. Children Under 13 Years of Age. No person under the age of 13 will be allowed into “Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House” unless they are accompanied by an adult(s), who is/are fully responsible for the conduct and the safety of the child, and who agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the parties identified in Section II., above, from any cost or expense, including attorney’s fees, resulting from any injury to any child they accompany into “Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House”.
VII. Video Release. You hereby grant to Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House, LLC, its contractors, co-producers, and/or assigns the irrevocable right and permission to videotape you entering and within “Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House”, which may be used for advertising, including television commercials, website videos, posters, evidence in a court of law, and for any other reason. You hereby release, discharge and agree to hold harmless Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House, LLC from any claims whatsoever arising out of the video, including claims for libel or invasion of privacy. You hereby warrant that you are of full legal age and have the right to contract in your own name. That you have read the above authorization, release and agreement, prior to its execution, and you are fully familiar with the contents thereof. This release shall be binding upon you and your heirs, legal representatives and assigns.
